What happened. Part of the storage infrastructure behind Cloudflare’s Workers KV is backed by a third-party cloud provider, which had an outage. About 90% of KV requests failed, and because many Cloudflare products rely on KV for configuration and identity, they failed too.

What changes. Cloudflare is removing KV’s dependency on any single storage provider and building tooling to progressively re-enable namespaces during recovery.
