Fastly global CDN outage triggered by customer config (8 June 2021). The disruption lasted about 2 hours 48 minutes, according to Fastly’s own timeline.
What happened. A software deployment on May 12 introduced a latent bug. On June 8 a customer pushed a valid configuration change that triggered it, causing 85% of Fastly’s network to return errors.
What changes. Fastly deployed a permanent bug fix and said it would investigate why QA/testing missed the bug and look for ways to improve remediation time.
