Google Cloud europe-west4-a power and cooling outage (15 July 2026). The disruption lasted about 14 hours 55 minutes, according to Google Cloud’s own timeline.

What happened. A 3 ms utility voltage drop tripped breakers on both feeds; one side’s diesel rotary UPS failed and a row lost all power. The chiller controller also went offline, cooling stopped (the redundant source was down for construction), the hall reached 44°C, and machines were shut down.

What changes. Google is investigating the DRUPS and overload failures, checking chiller pump control redundancy, adding earlier power/cooling alerts, and improving automated thermal shutdown.
